The Addiction of Stiletto Heels.

All I want are high heels, high heels. If I was a girl, I'd wear a lot of high heels. High, stiletto heels.- Isaac Mizrahi

They say Diamonds are a girl's BFF (best friend forever), but I think they are wrong, Stilettos are a girl's true best friend.
I remember shedding a tear when I  acquired my first Michael Kors.
Whether it is a  Christian Louboutin,  Jimmy Choo,  Salvatore Ferragamo,  Manolo Blahnik, Steve Madden,  or a Stuart Weitzman, we shed tears of joy at every purchase,  at such beauty. the romance is real, it's a love affair made in Shoe heaven
We all love them, they may vary in length from 2.5 centimeters (1 inch) to 25 cm (10 inches) or more if a platform sole is used.

Stiletto-style heels 5 cm or shorter are called kitten heels
Men love their cars and power tools, We love our Stilettos and Handbags
I cannot live without them and I know many of my sisters concur
They make you look really smart, did I hear you say sexy, yes indeed! We feel sexier and more attractive, confident, glamorous, and powerful.  We look taller and slimmer.  We unleash our inner vixen, nothing like strutting your stuff, in great pair.
Hollywood stars and supermodels make walking in high heels look easy. They float along gracefully looking tall and elegant.
High heels can also make any flat-footed woman look like royalty if she knows how to walk in them. It's a learned skill and that's why women worldwide attend courses to find out how to do it right

However, the downside, is they are not healthy for us. we know this, yet we continue to indulge, is this an addiction? I am beginning to think so.
how many times have you seen a woman in their stilettos, at the beginning of an event, and 30 minutes later, she is dying to take them off.
Even Oprah admitted to carrying hers in her hands sometimes when she can no longer bear the pain.

A friend once sent me a quote "Strong women wear their pain like stilettos, no matter how much it hurts, all you see, is the beauty of it"
I recently read a piece on how they can affect our posture, put pressure on joints, and can lead to a range of conditions including arthritis, hammertoes, back pain, and tendon injuries.

One rule of thumb is that the smaller the woman's foot, the smaller the heel should be.
"The big toe is the boss of the high heels," says Breitenberger, who is also an adviser to tango dancers. If the toe is strong, it holds the weight.
Orthopedic doctors warn against regularly wearing shoes with more than a 3cm heel.
Heels that high and higher change the way a woman walks, says Renee Andrea Fuhrmann, head doctor at a podiatry clinic in Bad Neustadt, Germany.

I even read about women in "the land of the heathen" like a friend of mine calls Hollywood and its surroundings, shaving their feet just so they can fit into certain shapes of stilettos. That is extreme and I think any doctor who encourages women to do that, should have their  license suspended

Christopher Morley said, "High heels were invented by a woman who had been kissed on the forehead."
Morley is right in more ways than one.
We spend so much money buying all these babies, we should also take good care of them.

My curiosity led me up the "heely" path to find the origin of the stiletto heel. It is named after the stiletto dagger, dagger? you whisper? yes dagger as in Knife
A long slender blade and needle-like point, primarily intended as a stabbing weapon.
Andre Perugia is the first documented designer of stiletto heels. Who began designing shoes in 1906.

However, another school of thought says,  The design of the stiletto heel originally came from the late Kristin S. Wagner but would not become popular until the late 1950s.
Well love them or are addicted to them, the Stiletto heels should be worn wisely
A woman who regularly wears high heels - more than three times a week for the entire day - will have problems," says Renee Andrea Fuhrmann, head doctor at a podiatry clinic in  Germany.
