Dear Daughter

Dear daughter,
My greatest fear is not contributing enough to making the world a better place for you.
Not because I love you more than my son.
But because the path our society has charted for you is slightly different.
Follow your heart in all matters.

Never for a second bury your aspirations because society expects you as a girl to become someone's wife and a mother.
Do not let stereotypes limit you.
Refuse to be pigeonholed because of your gender.

If however, our society's expectations are your heart desires that is perfectly fine.
But if what you desire is to pursue a career in astrophysics, medicine, law, banking, engineering, acting, writing, dancing etc. Just do it.

What is most important is that you love what you do.

If you do not want to ever get married but still enjoy a committed companionship with a man or woman.
Darling daughter, that is perfectly fine too.

Always follow your heart.

You are beautiful, do not believe anyone who says otherwise.
The mirror often does not see the heart.
And physical beauty is the most transient.

Maternal instincts not kicking in? no desire to procreate, or adopt children.
It does not make you less of a woman or a human being.
It should never hinder or discourage you from contributing to making your world a better place.
And be proud of your achievements.

Rosa Parks, Mother Theresa, Jane Adams (Nobel peace prize winner 1931), Mary Eliza Mahoney (First professional African-American nurse), Anna Jarvis (Founder of mothers day) never bore children.
Someday the world would celebrate your achievements and only give a passing glance at whether you procreated.

The purpose of your existence as a woman is not marriage or procreation.

The purpose of your existence is to make the world a better place than you met it.

Your religion if you ever choose one, should be Humanity.
For Humanity is all that we have, and how we treat our humanity gives hope to others.

Be kind to everyone who walks your path, human or animal.
We are all connected.
And when the sun rises, it shines on us all. Rich, Poor, Black, White, Brown or Yellow.

Respect the environment, flora and fauna alike it is your responsibility.
You owe it to the universe.
You would not survive on this earth without them.

Never be afraid to take the road less traveled.
Sometimes others are merely looking for a leader.

Do not be in a hurry to have sex. Wait until you are 21.
Think that's too late? Trust me it is not.
There are many years ahead to explore and thoroughly enjoy sex
And it gets better with age.
Only do it with someone with whom you truly care for.
It should be a gift of love and pleasure Shared with someone dear to you.
Always insist on a condom.
Bring your own.

this is a letter to every little girl.
especially in Africa, The Middle East, and Asia.
